joyce: IN 2 Corinthians 12:1-5 Talks about a third heaven, what does that mean?
Joyce: In Matthew 7:6 Would you explain this to me.
Joyce : In Isaiah 65:17-25 It talks about a New Heaven and a New Earth, is it the eternity we are wating for ?
Helen: Isaiah 23:17-18I don't understand this verse. So far there is a lot in Isaiah that I don't understand. Helen
Joyce: Proverbs9:1 What does the seven pillars mean, does it refer to the seven things God hates in Pro. 6: 16-19 and Pro.20;16 Does this mean , you deserve to lose your shirt ???
Helen: Psalms 56:8It sounds like God records all of our tears. Doesn't that mean He cares so much about us?
Helen: Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Psalms 44:23I wonder why David would say this. I thought God never slept. Was David just not feeling Gods presence so he's wondering why and wondering where God is?
Helen: In Job 1:6-7I was wondering why Satan is anywhere near Heaven and anywhere near God. I didn't think God would ever let him anywhere near Heaven again.
Helen: II Chronicles 36:9I'm wondering how much and what kind of evil could an 8 year old king do in the sight of the Lord? Could it mean those people that were responsible for him did evil?
Helen: II Samuel 21:8How come it says here that there were 5 sons of Michall but in II Samuel 6:23 it says that Michaal had no child. Were these sons adopted?
Helen: 1 Samuel 28:15This is amazing. Where was Samuel that she could actually bring him back lke that? Can these kind of people actually do this today?
Helen: 1 Samuel 16:14I know this can't mean that God sent him an evil spirit so what does it mean
Helen: 1 Samuel 10:6 and 1 Samuel 10:9What does this mean?It sounds like a salvation experience.
Helen: 1 samuel 15:11What does this mean since God doesn't change His mind about things.
Joyce: Judges 11:29-40God allowed Jephthah to sacrifice his only daughter as a burnt offering. Can you explain this to me., Joyce
Helen: Judges 19I know that the culture was different back then but this chapter was disturbing to me. Could you maybe explain it to me a little bit. I know women were considered as nothing. It hurts to see how they were treated. What were they fighting over, the fact that they did what they did to the concubine or the fact that they wanted the guy and I think the men in the house were just as much to blame since they gave them the girl in the first place. And it seems like they wanted him for sex
Rick: Do you think that theophanic manifestations are best described through scientific explinations or tangable appearances?
Mary: What if any is the significance of the 40 year time frame seen in many cases so far in the Old Testament. 40 days of rain, 40 years in the wilderness, and now in Judges several times it is mentioned there was 40 years of peace or 40 years of rule etc.... Is there specific signifance of the 40 year time frame?
Helen: I'm a little confused about Samson in Judges. It seems like he was a special person even before he was born. God's spirit was on him. Why then did he do things like go to a harlot and it didn't seem to bother him at all. Wasn't it even worse to do those kinds of things in those days than it is in todays society or was it in a way more acceptable because they sometimes had multiple wives.
Helen: Deuteronomy 34:5-6When Moses died did he go straight to Heaven? Who buried him if no one knew where he was buried? Was it God? Was it angels?
Helen: Deuteronomy 7:22Does this mean Og was more than 12 feet tall? Is this how tall the people were in the promised land?
Alanna: In Levticus 12:6-7 it says a woman must offer a burnt offering and a sin offering after childbirth. Why?
Helen: Deuteronomy 3:25-26Deuteronomy 4:21Sounds like Moses is saying that God will not let him go into the promised land because of how horrible the people have been. I thought it was because he struck the rock instead of speaking to it the way God had instructed him to do.
Joyce: In Num 6:2=9, it talks about a vow of separation to the Lord. What does that mean.
Helen: This isn't really a question because I think I know the why of it but I just wanted to say that Numbers 31 made my heart hurt because all the people that they conquered had to be killed - even most of the woman and the male babies. Did no one else on the earth have the opportunity to come to God and worship Him before Jesus Christ came and made it possible for gentiles to be accedpted by God? I know that God has His reasons for everything He does but it hurts my head to know about all the bloo
Helen: So in Numbers 11:17 - this is the Holy Spirit He's talking about right? So before, Moses was the only one who had the Holy Spirit on him until God took part of the Holy Spirit and put Him on the other people. What does it mean when it says the prophesied? Did they prophesy that God was going to give them meat to eat until they were sick of it or were they prohesying about something else?
Helen: In Numbers 22:20-22 It seems like God told Balaam to go with the men so why did He then get angry with Balaam and send His angel to try to kill him? What did I miss?
Helen: In Number 16:3 Is Korah sayingWe're all just as Holy as you are so why are you are leader? He sure had a lot of nerve or just plain stupidity. Is it pride that causes us to act this way? It's like we have a spirit of rebellion and we just don't want to submit to God even though He's God.
Alanna: Was there a specific reason that God chose the ten plagues he did?
Helen: Well that makes a lot more sense. Thank you.
Helen: What does it mean in Levitcus 23:27 where it says that the people had to afflict their souls?
Helen: Who is Molech in Leviticus 20:2?
Alanna: I have a question about the timeline between Genesis and Exodus. I was looking at some material that dates Joseph's arrival in Egypt around 1706 BC and the Israelites freedom from the Egyptians around 1491 BC. You had mentioned in church that this time span was about 400 years so I wanted to know exactly how long that time really was.
Helen: I wonder what would have happened to the peoples souls if God had consumed them in Exodus 32:10

Helen: Isaiah 23:17-18 - Monday, March 23rd 2009 8:01 AM
Another difficult passage that is really unclear even with the scholars.  Isaiah forsees a day when Tyre will turn to the Lord.  Tyre's profits will be given over to the Lord...
Joyce: Proverbs 9:1 - Tuesday, March 10th 2009 1:16 PM
The seven pillars in many translations are "hewn" the way a stone cutter might  shape rough stone.  The Pillars may simply be supports (Judges 16:25, 26, 29), decoration made...
Helen: Psalm 56:8 - Monday, March 9th 2009 10:17 AM
The direct meaning of the original Hebrew is "put my tears in your waterskin".  This gives us the image of putting valuable liquids in a leak-proof leather bag especially...
Helen: Psalm 44:23 - Monday, March 9th 2009 10:11 AM
Psalm 42-43 are a description of an individual in crisis that is upheld by the memory and the reality of God's presence through worship.  Psalm 44 is much the same and there is...
Helen: Job 1:6-7 - Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 7:47 AM
I am so glad you asked.  This is one of those that Scholars really don't deal much with.  There are a couple of ideas that we can talk about.  One is that in the Hebrew the...
Helen: 2 Chronicles 36:9 - Friday, February 27th 2009 11:18 AM

Helen: 2 Samuel 21:8 & 6:23 - Monday, February 16th 2009 9:40 AM
There is a lack of clarity in our manuscripts in this case.  Some of the manuscripts do not translate this as Michal but as Merab.  It is in question then if this is the same...
Helen: 1 Samuel 28:15 - Monday, February 16th 2009 9:34 AM
I am not sure where he was, or does the text reveal the answer to that question.  However, In the Ot there was a ban on magic because it seemed magic had influence on the times...
Helen: 1 Samuel 10:6 and 10:9 - Friday, February 13th 2009 8:30 AM
Remember Salvation, as we understand it, is a post cross experience.  In this case we are seeing a transformation of someone from a young boy to the King of a nation.  Those...
Helen: 1 Samuel 16:14 - Friday, February 13th 2009 8:30 AM
This is a very problematic piece of scripture.  The way in which the Spirit is described as evil is ambiguous.  I guess I would have to equate this event with the hardening of...
Helen:1 Samuel 15:11 - Friday, February 13th 2009 8:28 AM
I cannot find any other explanation except God regrets making Saul King.  Because of the actions, free will choices, of Saul God saw that Saul had chosen a life of disobedience.
Joyce: Judges 11:29-40 - Thursday, February 12th 2009 12:21 PM
I don't know that God had anything to do with this kind of activity but I do know it is evident that this is the way a spiritually flawed character could compensate for some...
Helen: Judges 19 - Thursday, February 12th 2009 8:45 AM
It is quite disturbing isn't it.  Isn't it ironic the host, who seems to be quite a model host, ends up being the one who offers his daughter and the visitors concubine.  It...
Rick: Theophanic Manifestations - Thursday, February 12th 2009 8:27 AM
Wow, are you sure you can use that word.  It would  seem that the scripture would uphold the theory of Theophany as a spiritual manifestation.   If you were to talk to...
Mary: the number 40 - Thursday, February 12th 2009 8:25 AM
Great question.  Many like to dabble in the number association game in scripture and I don't always know that we have a lot to stand on to substantiate the conclusions that are...
Helen: - Wednesday, February 11th 2009 10:00 AM
I am sure the culture was different then and as we all know that is the oldest profession in existence.  Although Samson was set apart even before He was born it did not make...
Deut. 34:5-6 - Monday, February 9th 2009 8:43 AM
Scripture always seems to leave us with more questions than answers.  The text would not support Moses went straight to heaven as it does say He was buried.  Once again there...
Joyce: Numbers 6:2-9 - Friday, February 6th 2009 10:20 AM
Most translations would say, "special vow of a Nazarite" instead of the NIV separation to the Lord.  Nazarites were set apart for the use of the Lord from the time of birth and...
Concerning Og - Friday, February 6th 2009 7:58 AM
I don't see evidence that all the people were that size, but it is possible there were some very large people living there at the time.  There could have been some remnants of...
Alanna: Leviticus 12:6-7 - Friday, February 6th 2009 7:40 AM
This is not a sin offering but a matter of ritual (clean vs. unclean).  The mother has not sinned but she needs to be ceremonially clean because of the flow of blood during...
Helen: Numbers 11:17 - Wednesday, February 4th 2009 8:14 AM
First I would like to say that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and being a person it would be hard to take part of Him and place it on someone.  It might be...
Helen: Numbers 22:20-22 - Tuesday, February 3rd 2009 1:05 PM
This one is not easy to answer in a short discussion but I will do the best I can.  Balaam was know as a divine seer.  In other word he was really a polytheist.  In the...
